I just couldn’t let any more time go by without writing a post about the awesomeness of the American Nuns and the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). They are great examples of true Sacred Feminists.
The Atlantic Magazine has done a series of articles on Brave Thinkers of 2012 and “American Nuns” is one of them. I love this article because it gives a simple timeline of the events between the nuns and the Vatican since April. So it is easy to get up to speed with what has happened. I also love that the nuns have been thoughtful, nonreactive and steady as a rock in the face of the Vatican’s accusations and claims of “questioning Church positions on contraception, homosexuality, and male-only priesthood while also advancing ‘radical feminist themes.’”
If you go to The Atlantic article you can give American Nuns “5 Stars” for being brave thinkers. Take a look at the other folks who made the list of the top 22 Thinkers of 2012. I spy some Sacred Feminists!
Go nuns—you rock!
