The Sacred Feminine in action.

What is a Sacred Feminist?

A Sacred Feminist is a person, female or male,  who takes the principles of the Sacred Feminine and puts them into action. This site is a place for women and men to learn more about the Sacred Feminine and then explore ways to make changes in the world that promote Balance, Healing, and Peace. We ask new questions, learn about and create new approaches to today’s problems and honor the work of Sacred Feminists, past and present.

Please join me as we bring the world into Balance- it’s time!

I am happy to find this site, it is encouraging to me.
A thoughtful new term came to my attention about how the terms sacred feminine and the sacred masculine can be helped by the idea of the Alchemical Feminine.
Cynthia Bourgeault, in her new book on Mary Magdalene, frames this as a relational dynamic that starts, in the Wisdom traditions, in a feminine figure who then transforms a relationship into a spacious and unified “place” in which the “living spirit” becomes one and present.
This I think helps us think and feel our way into the world so well proclaimed in this web site.

What is the difference between the sacred feminine and the secular feminine that you mentioned earlier? You mention them in the same sentence as equals, along with the sacred masculine and secular masculine, is that correct? I am very interested in the overal concept of the sacred feminine and believe it was never really abandoned, even as the traditional Church arose in Western Civilization.

    • Jill,
Thanks so much for your question. My hope is that this blog will be a place where folks can ask questions just like yours and many people can answer with their thoughts. For me, I believe the Sacred Feminine and the secular feminine do exist together. I like to use the analogy of the movie, “Gone With The Wind.” Scarlet is representative of the secular feminine. She is determined to survive and uses every resource she can to do that. She uses her human gifts and she did have limitations, yes, but she protected those in her care. Melanie is representative of the Sacred Feminine. She embodied kindness, forgiveness, empathy, patience. BUT, she could not survive without Scarlet. I know that is such a simple explanation and again, it is just my view. There are lots of great books out there explaining the Sacred Feminine. I will do more research and get back to you with books about the relationship with the traditional church. A few titles come to mind but I can’t recall the authors. Thanks, again, for your question!!
